No. Sourceful finances the battery together with our financing partners. You provide space and spare grid capacity, and a monthly cost is settled against the battery's revenue before the surplus is shared.
What is required of us in practice?
An outdoor space roughly the size of a parking bay with service area, spare capacity in the grid connection, and access during installation. We handle design, the notification to the grid operator, foundation and installation.
Does the battery affect our operations?
No. The battery is connected behind your meter and only uses capacity you don't use. Installation takes one to two days with a short planned outage at connection, scheduled when it suits you. The cabinets are certified with fire protection and battery monitoring.
Can the battery provide backup power during outages?
Yes, as an add-on. During an outage the battery switches to island mode and keeps selected parts of the property running. It needs some extra installation, which we go through in the pre-study.
Who owns the battery, and what happens if Sourceful is no longer around?
The battery is owned by a facility company and financed by Sourceful together with an energy fund or a larger energy company. Sourceful is the operator and optimises and monitors the battery around the clock. The agreement is written so the battery stays and another operator can take over if Sourceful were to drop out.
How long does the agreement run?
Ten years, and it follows the property on a sale. After three years you can buy out the installation. At the end you choose to extend, switch to a new installation or let us decommission it at no cost.
Can we own the battery ourselves?
Yes. If you invest yourselves you own the battery and a larger share of the value is yours. Sourceful integrates, optimises and operates it for an agreed fee.
