Zap Set-Up Guide for Inverters

How to connect an inverter to Sourceful Energy with Zap.

1. Activate Modbus TCP on your inverter

Write down your inverters network settings (IP address, Unit ID and Port Number), you'll need them later on. You can usually find them on your inverter's display or you can ask your installer.

Ensure your inverter is supported by Sourceful Energy - see our list of supported inverters.
If Modbus TCP is not enabled, ask your installer or check our configuration guides for inverters.

Important
If Modbus TCP is not supported, you may be able to use a direct wired connection (RS485). Please consult your installer or visit our Discord for advice.

2. Connect Your Zap to a Power Source

Connect your Zap to a power source such as a phone charger or computer using a USBC cable. Zap will need to be within range of your Wi-Fi router at all times.

3. Check Your Zap's LEDs

After connecting Zap to a power source, the green power LED and blue status LED should light up on your Zap.
